What PoE switch do I need for IP cameras?

One PoE port per camera, plus a separate uplink port to your NVR or router. For eight cameras pick an 8-port PoE switch with an independent gigabit uplink; for larger sites use 16- or 24-port models.

802.3af or 802.3at — which should I buy?

802.3af delivers 15.4W (standard domes/bullets); 802.3at delivers 30W for PTZ, heaters and 4K cameras. An 802.3at switch is backward compatible with 802.3af devices, so it covers mixed installs.

Will your PoE switches work with Hikvision or Dahua cameras?

Yes. As long as the camera uses standard 802.3af/at PoE over RJ45, it is powered and connected. SurveilForge is an independent brand and not affiliated with any camera OEM.
