Dome vs Bullet Camera: Which Should You Choose?

Picking between a dome and a bullet camera is the first real decision in any install — and the right answer depends on where the camera goes, not on which looks nicer.

Shape drives placement

Dome cameras sit flush against ceilings and walls; their discreet, low-profile look suits offices, shops and lobbies. Vandal resistance

Domes have a hardened, tamper-resistant housing and concealed lens, so they are harder to knock loose or redirect. In public or high-risk spots, pair a dome with a vandal-proof cage. Bullets are easier to aim precisely but more exposed.

Indoor vs outdoor

Both ship in IP66 outdoor builds. For exposed bullets, add a rain cover to cut glare and extend housing life. Indoors, domes blend in; bullets help where a visible deterrent is wanted.

Mounting

Domes use a ceiling plate; bullets use a universal wall bracket that hides the cable. Either way the camera still needs one PoE port — size a switch with our 8-port PoE switch.
